Microsoft Teams Shabbat – Friday, March 4, 2022

The times, they are a changin’. JSDD has started using Microsoft Teams. This was the first Shabbat to try out the new program and it went off without a hitch. Cheers to the amazing DSP’s who helped make the transition so smooth. It has been said before, but their dedication and ability to adapt is unparalleled!

We welcomed Shabbat with Rachel saying the blessings over the candles. Mark recited the blessings over the grape juice and challah. Rachel shared that she enjoyed spending time at the mall this morning. She showed everyone her new ring and Ralph complimented her on it.

The torah portion of the week “Pekudei” is the final parsha of the book of “Shemot” (accounting in Hebrew). Aaron receives clothing to work in the Sanctuary and the work on the Tabernacle, “the Tent of Meeting” is completed. Moses makes Aaron and his son’s positions official with his blessing. A cloud then covers the tent signifying the divine presence. Once the cloud lifts, the Israelites may begin their journeys.

Hagit, the Judaic Coordination taught that the covenant between G-d and us is similar to the marriage covenant between two people that love each other. To conclude this celebration, the group sang in both Hebrew and English. This Shabbat celebration was festive, educational and a success using Microsoft Teams.

Shabbat Shalom!
