Mondrian paintings
In our art and history class the members went back in time to the early 1940’s to experience the jazz rhythms depicted in in Piet Mondrian’s “Boogie Woogie Broadway.”
The use of straight lines and minimal bright colors evoke the music and fast-moving world of the new century. Our artists used rulers to make “roads” that went this way and that crossing over each other and creating a vibrant imaginary image of street traffic.
Spring flowers
During this time of year there are so many colorful spring flowers that just beg to be turned into art. These pansies were painted by our watercolor class. After careful study of the way the petals are formed and colored, members painted their interpretations. The only thing required of their work was that it be big. As you can see things turned out big and beautiful!
Digital Lab Expansion
The digital art lab has expanded, taking over the library and adding several digital art computers to the space.
The new lab will now host our digital art classes, groups, 1:1s, and open digital art periods.
With the increased capacity, the lab programming will become more modular; classes have the potential to be run as groups, to accommodate individual projects and members in open lab.
Staff can mirror their computer screen to the 75” wall mounted monitor, allowing for instructions and tutorials to be provided while members sit at their devices. This came in handy for a 3D printing workshop where members are learning to make vegetable silhouette stakes for labeling what’s planted in our garden.
Classes and exciting things planned for 2025 are: Character Animation, Video Club, a graphic design class, expanded and multiple Tech Literacy classes, use of our XL 3D printer which is super-fast, and an online music store to stream and purchase member music!
