Getting to Know…. Theatre Facilitator, Jeremy Kole

Name: Jeremy Kole
Title: Theater Consultant

How long have you been with JSDD?

This is my first year!
I officially started with the agency back in September of 2024.

How long have you been with JSDD?

It is, though I have now also substituted for other classes, now!

What is your first memory of JSDD?

Working with Faye and Joan on a paper-making project, as well as a wonderfully upbeat interview.

What has most surprised you about working with JSDD?

Every day is a surprise, and that’s a beautiful thing. This is one of the first art spaces I’ve worked in quite like this, and it has been quite eye opening.

What are 3 words to describe JSDD?

Joyous | Innovative | Fearless

What do you find most challenging?

As a theater teacher, teaching theater without a stage can be a bit tricky… but as they say, “the show must go on!” And on it does!

What do you wish other people knew about JSDD?

Kind of a weird answer, but I would say the members, individually. How hard working and earnest all of the artists, members, and staff are every day. The art speaks for itself but knowing the people who put into it as individuals gives it an even more beautiful perspective.

When your friends/family find out that you work at JSDD, what do they say or ask?

What kind of theater we are working on. Many were surprised to find out we worked on Shakespeare first!

Tell me about someone who has influenced you while working with JSDD? What part of your job are you most excited about?

I hate to sound like a suck up, but Anthonice, John, Miesha, and Mimi (Tamita) have thoroughly inspired me with their hands on approach and leadership. The care and love they give to the members, as well as the respect they give each staff member is truly rare these days. It is an honor working for them.

What is on your wish list for the next 5 years with JSDD?

To put on a show! And to go further, I’d love to help them make the show of their dreams along the way.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about working for JSDD?

Lead with kindness and have fun. And… you can use my projector, just let me know first 🙂

Before working at JSDD what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Acting. And I still do it, and LOVE it, but it’s undeniably weird. And anyone who says otherwise has not had to play a full-sized penguin like I have had to.

What is your favorite thing for Lunch?

People think I don’t eat lunch, but it’s just because I’m always eating fast food and am too embarrassed to bring it in multiple times in a row.

What is something about you that is not on your resume?

My wardrobe!
