The first home opened in 1989 in MetroWest for 6 men and women to live as independently as possible in the community. In the 30 years since, JSDD has grown to support more than 40 people in 12 homes in Essex and Morris Counties.
While many of the people in our homes move in as young adults, as you can imagine, after 30 years, we have had the opportunity to celebrate many milestones.
Happy Birthday, Jay
We are so pleased that after nearly 20 years as a JSDD resident, we are celebrating Jay’s 70th birthday. Jay continues to keep us all informed of current events, is an avid Yankee fan, has become an accomplished artist and is above all, a caring friend to so many.
His empathy for others is touching as he shares the joy of the people around him who have achieved success and feels the pain of those impacted by tragedy – both here in the community among his friends, as well as in the world when he learns about tragic events from the news.
Jay cherishes his family and friends and appreciates the people in his life who support him in pursuing his interests.
