Shabbat – Friday, April 8th, 2022

As the weeks go by, everyone is feeling more comfortable using the new technology of Microsoft Teams for the virtual Shabbat gatherings. Alicia and Hannah said the blessing over the candles together. Daniel Z led the blessing over the grape juice and the challah.

Hagit, the Judaic coordinator taught the group about the weekly torah portion, “Metzora.” In this portion, we learn about diseases and our bodies. It also discusses harmful speech and reminds us of the power that words have on one another. This reminded Rachel of a favorite song by Tim McGraw, “Humble and Kind” and she asked that Hagit play the song for the group.  The song says that being humble can be tough but being able to think about others helps the world around you. It also says that being kind to one person might not change the world, but it does make at least one person feel good. Rachel added that the song reminds you to be respectful towards others. After hearing the song, Alicia and Daniel agreed that the song made them feel good and happy.

Stacy C. shared a highlight from her week. She had lunch with her mom, which was wonderful as usual, but this lunch was even more special because Stacy invited her mom to lunch and she was able to treat! Stacy also talked about how she is ready to recite the “Four Questions” at the Passover Sedar because it is the duty of the youngest person at the sedar and she will be the youngest one there.

Shabbat Shalom!
