We ended our art studio “Prehistoric” theme with quite a bang today. Our Hands On class have spent this past month building a prehistoric diorama, along with a working volcano. Today, our dinosaurs felt the wrath of Hephaestus as the members created many eruptions. Each member was invited to make their own explosion (most did 2), complete with whatever colored lava they wanted. We learned about chemical reactions, measurements, cause & effect, and just plain having fun. The members didn’t want it to end and they’re already trying to figure out when we can explode our volcano again. In continuing our celebration of eruptions… we decided to blow off some soda / mentos explosions as well. These were met with huge applause and lots of laughter.
