The WAE Center at JSDD is a holistic, creative and expressive arts learning center, dedicated to Finding the Spark Within. This year is the 20th anniversary of this cutting-edge program, and WAE to Evolve represents the work of WAE Studio artists throughout the past 20 years.
In 2004, media was largely acrylic on canvas and drawing conducted in one to one, facilitator/artist sessions. As the years moved on there was an expansion to group classes, advancing the artist intensives, special projects, and self-directed work. There are now three art studios at the WAE Center, and they remain a place where both collaboration and neutrality are practiced with intention daily. Media includes fiber arts, digital art, photography, weaving, printmaking, and mixed media in addition to traditional art mediums. Evolution is both inevitable and expansive, requiring openness to new methods, ideas, and possibilities.
WAE Studio artists demonstrate the capacity to learn, explore and create as individuals and a community to the betterment of all. Art facilitators bring their expertise and adaptive minds to the process and are instrumental to the evolution of the WAE Center in all that it has become. The impact of creativity on the human experience is a daily wonder at the WAE Center, where a thriving community gathers inspiration from one another, fostering a nurturing environment of learning, exploration, and individual artistic expression.
