We’re excited to announce that the WAE Center will now offer Therapy Dog services twice a week for our members. Manu, an 8-year-old Samoyed, will visit on Mondays from 1:00 to 2:00 pm and Milo, a 6 ½-year-old mixed-terrier, will join us on Fridays during the same time.
Manu, weighing 80 pounds, delights in human interaction, adores cheese, crackers, and most dog treats. Since becoming certified with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs in 2018, he’s spread joy in nursing homes, schools, and businesses. His favorite part of being a therapy dog? Meeting new people, receiving back and chin rubs, and bringing smiles to everyone he encounters.
Milo, a bundle of love and affection, joined his handler’s family in 2019 and will add his unique warmth to our program.
During their visits, these adorable companions will roam through our program, offering themselves for interaction with our members. Their presence aims to provide support and love without hindering anyone’s ongoing projects or classes.
To opt out of the therapy dog program, individuals or their guardians can contact Justina Williams at 973.272.7152 or jwilliams@jsdd.org. Unless otherwise specified, we’ll assume it’s acceptable for members to engage with our furry visitors.
