Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled (JSDD) is seeking to hire a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work full time in a day program setting at The WAE Center.

Responsibilities

  • Master an understanding of the WAE Center philosophy and the ability to deliver service in keeping with this philosophy
  • Assist WAE Center members in all activities as necessary; may include feeding, toileting, personal mobility, etc
  • Assist members in identifying and developing their full potential
  • Day-to-day interaction and meaningful engagement with members, establishing significant connections with the members
  • Represent a stable, predictable presence at the WAE Center
  • Assist WAE Staff in any way necessary
  • Participate in all activities
  • Generate creative ideas and demonstrate the ability to execute them as part of a team
  • Lead groups/facilitate classes as necessary and assigned

The WAE Beyond Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the WAE Beyond program for both the general population adults and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This role includes leading and assisting in workshops and other program activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience: Prior experience organizing group activities, developing programs, and facilitating groups

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Support
    • Support and enhance the established program
    • Assist in the creative process of developing new classes and workshops

  • Communication
    • Engage with participants, allies and others interested parties about the program

The Front Desk Coordinator encompasses two primary responsibilities: medication oversight and front desk management. This role is a vital part of the WAE Center team, ensuring the seamless operation of the front desk and supporting the organization’s overall functionality.

Although the position involves collaboration within a team, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently with a proactive and forward-thinking mindset.

This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to foster a positive, solution-oriented environment while ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in medication administration, ensuring strict compliance with DDD (Division of Developmental Disabilities) and WAE Center regulations.
  • Proficient in interpreting prescriptions, managing expired medications, and maintaining an organized, proactive medication oversight system.
  • Proven experience managing reception duties and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to navigate other office software and equipment as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Medication Oversight
    • Manage and maintain the Medication Binder in full compliance with DDD and WAE Center protocols.
    • Administer medications and provide first aid as required, including both scheduled and PRN medications.
    • Ensure emergency medication files are accurate and up-to-date while monitoring prescription storage, availability, and expiration dates.
  • Administrative Support
    • Manage the reception desk by greeting visitors, conducting screenings as needed, recording attendance, and answering phone calls.
    • Handle incoming mail, packages, and deliveries, directing them appropriately.
    • Assist in daily data entry, including attendance, class notes, and incident reports, and follow up on corrections as needed.
    • Maintain office supply inventory and notify supervisors of replenishment needs.
  • Member Engagement
    • Establish a friendly and respectful rapport with members, families, caregivers, and staff.
    • Assist members with their needs and provide daily outreach to absent members.
    • Independently address minor member issues and escalate concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Compliance and Inspections
    • Accountable for DDD & WAE Center medication compliance standards.
    • Maintain informal UIR records and ensure compliance with all JSDD, State of NJ, and Department of Human Services regulations.
    • Cooperate with inspections, audits, and investigations as required.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Check in daily with supervisors to maintain open communication.
    • Notify the Management Team of any discrepancies or concerns.
    • Perform additional tasks as delegated by the WAE Management Team.

Job Type: Part-time.

Jewish Service for The Developmentally Disabled (JSDD) is the lead, multi-purpose agency dedicated to providing an integrated program of community education, advocacy and services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

We are currently seeking to hire a Direct Support Professional to work Part Time on the weekends in our Residential Homes located in Essex or Morris County.

Expected Hours: Saturday – Sunday, 4-11pm.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Complete all required trainings and maintain certification
  • Promptly arrive at the beginning of each shift and ask pertinent information from the departing staff member
  • Read the daily log and communication books
  • Be thoroughly familiar with emergency and on-call procedures
  • Provide security to residents by assisting and accompanying them at all times at home and
    in the community
  • Administer or monitor medications as prescribed
  • Assist residents with cooking, house-keeping, and grooming skills as listed on their IHP or ISP
  • Treat all residents with dignity and respect and be cognizant of resident rights at all times
  • Provide ongoing support and be a positive role model for achieving the greatest independence
  • Provide residents with support in decision making and opportunities for choices
  • Participate in overall operation of the residence which may include accompanying residents to
    medical appointments and recreation activities

JSDD’s Residential Component is currently seeking to hire a FT Residential Manager. Must be flexible.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage overall daily operations of the residence, including all resident and household-related matters. On call responsibilities 24 hours, 7 days a week
  • Supervises the Assistant Residence Manager and all direct care staff, including participating in their hiring, orientation, training and ongoing development
  • Creates, maintains and monitors all administrative systems – i.e. log and communication books, daily training records, fire drill records, menus, resident/client files, etc.
  • Leads the IHP process and supervises staff implementation of goals
  • Liaison with all client day programs/work sites
  • Liaison with all client families, developing positive ongoing relationships
  • Liaison with DD Clinic and private physicians – monitors medical status with assistance from the agency nurse

We are currently seeking to hire an Assistant Residence Manager for our group home located in West Orange. The position is Full Time, 40 hours a week. Sunday – Thursday 1pm to 9pm; flexibility with days in the shift is required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist with supervising the daily operations of the residents, including all household, staff and resident related matters
  • Participate in the orientation, training and ongoing supervision of direct care staff
  • Monitor all administrative systems – i.e. communication and logbooks, daily training records, fire drill records, menus, client files, etc.
  • Assure accuracy and compliance with medication administration procedures by all staff assigned to work in the home. Check MAR sheets daily.
  • Monitor the physical upkeep of the residence
  • Promote community inclusion and person-centered philosophies
  • Maintain positive relationships with families of residents
  • Assist in coordinating and scheduling social events that emphasize community inclusion

Jewish Service for The Developmentally Disabled (JSDD) is the lead, multi-purpose agency dedicated to providing an integrated program of community education, advocacy and services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. JSDD is currently seeking a Part-Time Staff Nurse. The hours for the position would be 16 to 20 hours a week, with flexibility to work 2 days a week either Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 9-5pm, 8-4pm, or 8-4:30pm.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the health and wellness of the residents in each of the homes operated by JSDD
  • Monitor, coordinate and manage the medical/nursing needs of each resident, including scheduling of an accompaniment to medical and dental appointments as needed with assistance from the Director of Nursing as needed
  • Assistance with personal hygiene skills and activities of daily living
  • Review medication administration records on a regular basis to assure staff accuracy
  • Assure copies of prescriptions exist for all administered medications and that their information is correctly transcribed onto records
  • Support Residence Managers in organizing and maintaining each resident’s medical file
  • Provide on-going in-service training to staff on health issues
  • Participate in the IHP process as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Act as a contact person for staff/residents regarding any information, recommendations or questions resulting from medical appointments or in case of illness or adverse reaction to medication
  • Cooperate with any and all JSDD and Division of Developmental Disabilities inspeactions or investigations

Overview

JSDD: Life | Home | Tech (LHT) is at the forefront of using technology solutions to support greater independence for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), autism, and older adults who are aging in place. The Program Assistant will play a key role in showcasing LHT throughout the wider community. The ideal candidate will be passionate about enhancing the quality of life for adults who need support. They will also be patient, organized and enthusiastic about making technology accessible to all.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Excellent communication skills in group and one-on-one settings
  • Open to learning new information and then sharing/teaching it to others
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology devices (i.e., Amazon Echo devices, smart home technology, basic household devices), including installation and education
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and/or older adults a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up, the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, flexible with change, clearly report on the progress of deliverables

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide education sessions, discussions and demo tours
  • Conduct individual technology assessments for adults with IDD, autism, older adults and/or caregivers, including writing follow-up documentation and recommendations
  • Install enabling technology for adults with IDD, autism and older adults, as appropriate
  • Participate in technology literacy topics and curriculum development, as appropriate
  • Investigate new types of technology and the various ways it will support the communities we serve
  • Provide support for Information Sessions and community outreach events
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager

This is a part-time (30 hours weekly), one-year grant-funded position, and is subject to renewal. Potential to expand hours or go full-time in the future, based on grant-funding.

  • Hours are flexible, with most occurring during M-F business hours. Occasional Evening or Weekend availability for special events

Location: Hybrid Position, local travel around Essex and Morris Counties, as well as attendance at meetings, events and related programs at JSDD main office in Livingston, NJ.

Salary: $38,000.00 per year
